Clementine lives and works as a photographer and videographer in Amsterdam.

She graduated from the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen in 2015 and from the Fotoacademie Amsterdam in 2022. Her work consists of portrait series, fashion photography and independent work. 

 

In a quirky fashion that takes inspiration from the painting arts, she takes portraits of musicians, actors and writers, among others. She sees humans as mysterious creatures and is curious about what shaped a person into who he is. She uses objects, poses, lighting and setting as metaphors to express the essence of a particular individual. Together with the person portrayed, she searches for the appropriate representation of that person’s character.

 

Her work is both documentary and staged in nature. In her portrait series, fashion photos and independent work, she explores and blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. She does so by combining surreal scenes that she encounters in everyday life with staged imagery.
